Emerson Network Power’s Intelligent Free Cooling Solution
This telecom shelter free cooling solution, designed by Emerson Network Power, is designed to remove heat dissipated from the equipment by supplying relatively cooler ambient air. From one end with an inlet fan, cool air carries away the heat while flowing through the cabin and exhausts at the other end of the cabin. Complementing this feature with Emerson’s intelligent monitoring/control device, this solution is capable of maximizing efficiency without sacrificing high availability. When the internal shelter temperature is high and the external ventilation cannot cool the equipment, the intelligent controls automatically turns on the cooling units to work.
Moreover, this solution enables:
- Alternate switching between air conditioner and inlet ventilation fan to reduce air conditioner running time while maintaining internal temperature
- Optimization of existing cooling units at site, therefore avoiding extra CAPEX
- High quality filtration to ensure a clean internal environment. Intelligent indicators remind maintenance staff when dirty filters need cleaning.
- Flexible monitoring system range from basic parameters to complete base station site management system.
Employing new technologies that enable free cooling allow further reduction of total electrical usage by as much as 70 percent.
