Power rectifiers are the heart of the DC power systems used by the major telcos. These components directly impact on the operator’s ability to deliver on their service guarantees, which differentiate themselves from the competition. For a large telco, it’s not uncommon to be using more than 25,000 rectifiers across their network at any one time. Given the highly competitive nature of the telco industry in Asia Pacific, it’s no surprise that availability was high on the list of operator priorities, and that reliability and high efficiency, followed by cost, were identified as the most important features they look for in their power systems to guarantee their service levels.
