Emerson Network Power’s CommsConnect Address Telecom Network Challenges

Hanoi, Vietnam [March, 2010] – Emerson Network Power, a business of Emerson (NYSE:EMR) and the global leader in enabling Business-Critical Continuity™ has just hosted CommsConnect Operator’s Day at the Daewoo Hotel, Hanoi on March 23, 2010. The series started in Thailand and travelled through major cities in Southeast Asia, on to Philippines and then finally in Vietnam.   Over 70 participants, mostly telecom operators, integrators and partners such as Viettel, VNPT, VMS, GTEL, Ericsson, Motorola among others attended the interactive and informative forum.  Emerson Network Power together with the attendees collaboratively identify best practices and solutions aimed at addressing new and persisting challenges in high-performance networks. The event kicked-off with the presentation, “Telecom Operator Challenges and Emerson Solutions”, in which Ling Chee Hoe, general manager of the market and management organization for Emerson’s telecom business, shared insights in operating and deploying a sophisticated network in today’s dynamic environment. “With the wide range of offerings, it has become easier for customer to switch between providers. To prevent this, the incumbents and even the start-ups are preventing customer churn from happening by offering attractive incentives for price-conscious subscribers. As a result, operators are focused on lowing CAPEX and OPEX. Most operators are trying to overcome this challenge by seeking opportunities where they can curb costs without compromising quality of their services.” Chee Hoe adds.  The event also provided strategic approaches such as enhancing energy efficiency through highly efficient rectifiers and monitoring; improving reliability through integrated power and cooling; and speeding up deployment through smart enclosures and renewable energy. The event also had a consultation session which was led by subject matter experts.  This segment provides opportunities for participants and Emerson representatives to share and discuss concerns, issues, questions as well as recommendations regarding managing critical facilities.  Exclusive social event for execs As a gesture of appreciation, Emerson concluded CommsConnect with an exclusive social event for telecom CXOs and executives. Held at the Poolside Area of Daewoo Hotel, participants were treated with great food, drinks and great company. The CommsConnect forum is hosted by Emerson Network Power.
