Delhi, India – Emerson Network Power, a business of Emerson (NYSE:EMR) and global leader in enabling Business-Critical Continuity™, commenced the Energy Logic symposium series in Delhi, June 6 at the Sheraton New Delhi Hotel. Over a hundred delegates composed of IT professionals, business and industry leaders and consulting engineers attended the symposium.
With the theme ‘Enabling Energy Efficient IT Infrastructure’, the symposium served as a common platform for delegates to discuss opportunities and issues on data center optimization. The afternoon event was led by Emerson’s managing director for India, Sandeep Nair, who shared the Energy Logic approach. According to Nair, heat density, availability and power are the topmost concerns of IT professionals however there has been a lack of a cohesive plan on how to solve these data center constraints.
“Based on what Emerson calls the principle of cascading power savings, Energy Logic advocates 10 practical steps for reducing power consumption without compromising performance and availability. Our own studies show that Energy Logic can reduce as much as 50 percent of overall data center power consumption,” added Nair.
Emerson’s ecosystem partners then presented their respective take on data center optimization. Cisco’s Sumit Mukhija, IBM’s Raj Jha, VMWare, and Dell’s Arunangshu Basu shared the latest technologies and practices that enable energy reductions in the data center.
The first session concluded with a Solutions Gallery, featuring Emerson’s latest range of energy-efficient solutions – the Liebert XD and Data Center in a Rack (DCIR).
After the short break, Emerson’s solutions experts – Russell Perry, David Shao, Ewan Davis, Mark Raicevich and Eric Rivas – presented the company’s complete range of solutions and products that cover precision cooling, power supply, racks & enclosures, monitoring and service.
The symposium concluded with a ‘Ask an Expert’ session, speakers took time to address data center issues and challenges raised by a number of delegates. Most questions were concentrated on cooling and enclosures. Towards the night, delegates and guest speakers had dinner and enjoyed a Ghazal performance by Zulfigar Khan.
