Hong Kong SAR – Emerson Network Power finished its Hong Kong Energy Logic Symposium last May 6 at the Conrad Hong Kong Hotel. The even drew more than a hundred delegates, mostly from the IT and business community.
Emerson Network Power’s regional director for North Asia, Robert Griffith headed the event with the Energy Launch. Griffith discussed the 10 steps to reducing overall energy consumption in the data center. According to him, most customers identify efficiency as top priority, yet at the same time, a difficult concept to measure.
Griffith added that, “Following the specific steps of Energy Logic can potentially save up to 50 percent of the data center’s load. For instance, in the modeled scenario of a 5,000sq ft data center, applying the steps produced a savings of 585kW from the data center’s initial 1,127kW load.”
Ecosystem partners, likewise, presented their take on energy optimization. Speakers Danny Lam (Cisco), Kevin Huang (Dell), and Michael Tin (IBM) discussed the latest technologies and practices that can help reduce energy usage and enable easy expansion of compute capacity in the same data center.
Meanwhile, the afternoon session consists of presentations from Emerson Network Power specialists, Russell Perry, Arunangshu Chattopadhyay, Harry Hong and Dicky Fung. These speakers shared presented Emerson Network Power’s 360-degree solutions and products that cover precision cooling, power, racks & enclosures, monitoring and service.
The symposium concluded with a ‘Ask an Expert’ session, speakers took time to address data center issues and challenges raised by a number of delegates. Most questions were concentrated on cooling and enclosures.
The event was further supported by an Energy Logic Solutions Gallery, as well as by the ecosystem partners’ booths that provided participants with related literature on their latest energy-efficient solutions.
The conference was hosted by Emerson Network Power, the global leader in enabling Business-Critical Continuity™. The Energy Logic event marks the 4th year of the Emerson symposium series, which has reached over 5,000 IT&T professionals around Asia Pacific to date.
