Jakarta, Indonesia – Emerson Network Power, the global leader in enabling Business-Critical Continuity™ launched the Energy Logic symposium event in Indonesia, April 15 at the Hotel Nikko Jakarta. Nearly two hundred select participants, mostly IT professionals, market and industrial leaders, alliance partners, and consulting engineers, joined the one-day symposium event.
Heading the symposium event is keynote speaker, Gene Hayden, Emerson Network Power’s vice president sales and general manager – Asia Pacific. Armed with illustrations, Hayden explained the specific steps of Energy Logic to reducing energy usage in the data center.
“Emerson Network Power’s extensive range of product offerings and service provide energy-efficient solutions for enterprise. The greatest benefit, however, is derived from understanding the approach described by Emerson’s Energy Logic, which features 10 steps that can be taken to address the issues of power, cooling and space utilization, and, for the first time, quantifies the savings a data center can make in kilowatts with each step,” said Hayden.
After the keynote presentation, ecosystem speakers Donny Dharma Gunawan (Dell), Februaris Dipodiwirjo (Cisco) and Soeparwan Soelaeman (IBM) presented their take on energy efficiency, including energy calculation tools, virtualization and server utilization, respectively.
The afternoon session consists of presentations from Emerson Network Power specialists, Andy Liu, Arunangshu Chattopadhyay, Chew Cheng Kiat, Peter Simon and Paul Churchill. These speakers discussed Emerson Network Power’s extensive range of products covering power, racks & enclosures, precision cooling, monitoring and service.
The symposium concluded with a ‘Ask an Expert’ segment, speakers took time to address issues or questions raised by a number of delegates. Most questions were centered on precision cooling and racks. One delegate asked how saving energy translated to less floor space.
Emerson Network Power's cooling expert, Chew answered, "High-density racks equipped with blade servers can optimize space utilization and energy consumption. Of course, the major benefit comes from the Liebert XD Cooling system that enable higher rack loads. So we need less racks if we load them up. What's innovative about the Liebert XD solution is its 'zero footprint', it can be installed either above the cold aisle or above the racks, lessening the number of computer room air conditioners (CRACs) installed on the raised floors."
The conference was hosted by Emerson Network Power, the global leader in enabling Business-Critical Continuity™. The Energy Logic event marks the 4th year of the Emerson symposium series, which has reached over 5,000 IT&T professionals around Asia Pacific to date.
