Mumbai, India – Emerson Network Power, a business of Emerson (NYSE:EMR) and global leader in enabling Business-Critical Continuity™, commenced the Energy Logic symposium series in Mumbai, June 3 at the Grand Intercontinental. More than two hundred delegates attended the symposium.
The afternoon event started with customer advocate, Prakash Chandra Lohia, senior vice-president of Reliance Engineering Associates and followed shortly with Emerson’s managing director for India, Sandeep Nair, who shared with the audience the 10 sequential steps to reducing overall energy consumption in the data center, as well as the additional benefits of Energy Logic. Said Nair, most IT professionals identify heat density, availability and power constraints as top concerns yet don’t know how to solve these constraints without compromising service levels.
“Based on what Emerson calls the principle of cascading power savings, Energy Logic advocates 10 practical steps for reducing power consumption without compromising performance and availability. Our own studies show that Energy Logic can reduce as much as 50 percent of overall data center power consumption,” added Nair.
Emerson’s ecosystem partners then presented their respective take on data center energy optimization. Speakers Ranajoy Punja (Cisco), Arunangshu Basu (Dell), Milind Salokhe (IBM) and VMWare shared the latest technologies and practices that can help reduce energy usage in the data center, as well as lessen environmental impact.
The morning session concluded with a Solutions Gallery, highlighting Emerson’s latest range of energy-efficient solutions.
The afternoon session preceded with Emerson’s solutions experts: David Shao, Ewan Davis, Mark Raicevich and Eric Rivas. The speakers presented Emerson’s widerange solutions and products that cover precision cooling, power supply, racks & enclosures, monitoring and service.
The symposium concluded with a ‘Ask an Expert’ session, speakers took time to address data center issues and challenges raised by a number of delegates. Most questions were concentrated on cooling and enclosures. Towards the night, delegates and guest speakers had dinner and entertainment by standup comedian, Vikram Sathe.
