Energy Logic Savings Potential

The Energy Logic model starts with a 5,000 sq. ft. data center using 1.1 MW of energy. After applying the 10 actions, energy use is reduced by 585 kW, which is a 52 percent savings. And this savings is realized without compromising performance or availability While the IT loads went down by 221 kW, the biggest reduction came from cooling, where 307 kW of energy was saved (429 kW to 122 kW). The key, though, is that those savings would not have been possible without first reducing the IT load. By beginning with IT hardware choices, implementing operational best practices, and taking advantage of power and cooling product efficiencies, you can reduce data center energy use by up to half while removing constraints to growth. In the model, the Energy Logic actions also freed up more than 3,000 sq. ft of floor space, a savings of more than 60%!
