Keeping Data Centres at Par with Industry Best Practices
 |
After investing heavily in equipment, data centre managers are now tasked with ensuring the upkeep and maintenance of their respective data centres in light of power, cooling and space capacity challenges. Moreover, they must ascribe to industry best practices for data centre upkeep to keep their equipment running at optimal levels. For this purpose, Emerson Network Power offers its Data Centre Audit (DCA), a service which aims to give facility managers an objective view of their infrastructure, and imparts best practices in the design, management and operation of data centre infrastructure.
What is it?
The DCA Program is a half-day audit of your data centre, during which an Emerson expert in data centre design and operations compares your infrastructure against more than 50 industry best practices, and identifies your overall risks and capacity challenges.
It entails data centre inspection and data collection covering the following -- facility, racks and cabling, cooling, power, monitoring systems and service practices. It also includes general data centre characteristics and maintenance practices.
The site check-up provides:
- Performance relative to 50+ best practices in five categories: Cooling, Power, Monitoring, Service, and General Facility & Security
- Snapshot of data centre health including capacity utilization statistics and opportunities to improve availability and efficiency
- Emerson expert’s observations and recommendations
The service will provide you with a comprehensive report summarizing findings and observations. It will also determine how your data centre fares in terms of compliance with industry best practices. The report will also contain Emerson recommendations, together with implementation challenges and cost implications.
NOTE: The Data Centre Audit listed above is only a visual inspection and is not intended to replace a full Data Centre Assessment.

Who is the DCA Program recommended for?
- Data centre managers who want to identify areas where enhancements can be done to achieve energy savings and increase availability.
- Companies who need proof points to plan their IT infrastructure initiatives and support their budget requests.
- Data centre managers who wan to get objective insight on the status and health of their data centre infrastructure.
- Customers with data centre size of less than two hundred square meters (200 sqm).
You will find much value in Emerson’s DCA program as you are getting advice from Emerson experts and qualified consultants. It helps you decide where to take your data centre in order to achieve greater flexibility, higher availability and lowest total cost of ownership. For a few dollars spent per square meter, the return on investment is easily justifiable.
